Who is Bad Pastor?
Five years ago, I reached a crossroads: stay in my career as a minister or honor my commitment to celebrate and uplift trans and queer people. I chose my values. Leaving institutional religion gave me space to come out as non-binary and step fully into my calling as an astrologer.
The name Bad Pastor is my response to “this is how we’ve always done it”—to systems that cling to power and deny the full, divine humanity of children, queer, and trans people. I’ve always been drawn to those in the in-between or outside spaces of religion, because that’s where I belong, too.
Today, my work helps people cultivate inner permission—the courage to trust themselves enough to make big changes, take leaps of faith, and imagine new possibilities. Clients I’ve worked with have:
Found the courage to leave a marriage
Confronted a fear of spirituality after serious church trauma
Gained a new relationship to time and meaning through astrology
Unlearned toxic theology about gender and sexuality
Gotten sober
Found security in their intuitive and psychic abilities
I hold a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary, where I focused on theology, art, and ritual. I’m also a Certified Empowerment Practitioner and a certified practitioner of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a framework that grounds all my work in empathy, clarity, and connection.
My training has been shaped by Black liberation scholars at Union, whose teachings continue to guide my commitment to justice. I also studied clinical pastoral care at the Jewish Theological Seminary, which sharpened my capacity for interfaith spiritual accompaniment.
I practice a blend of traditional and humanistic astrology—honoring the rigor of ancient techniques while embracing modern psychological insights. For me, astrology is more than prediction: it’s a language that helps us communicate with the divine, with each other, and with ourselves.
Outside of sessions, I love music and singing, and I spend as much time as I can with my three dogs—Bella Rose, Gil, and Banana. I also share an orchard with my partner and friends, where you’ll often find me covered in sawdust from renovations or dirt from tending plants.
With love,
Lindsey AKA Bad Pastor
